Are there any casinos close to Bend that you know of?
Several booking sites have listings for 2 bed-2bath units in Sunriver (about 15 miles S of Bend). If you want to go to Crater Lake via the south entrance, you could visit the KlaMoYa casino along US 97 near the highway turnoff to Crater Lake. Along US 26 west of Madras, there is another casino in Warm Springs.
Coming to Bend from Eugene, you can take Oregon 58 and take a small detour over to see Salt Creek Falls. It's the first right turn after you come through the tunnel.
It is 90 miles to Bend from the north entrance of Crater Lake NP via OR 138 and US97. While in the Bend area, be sure to visit the High Desert Museum and the Lavalands Visitor Center

Its almost 120 miles from Bend to KlaMoYa. AFAIK the only one closer is Indian Head which is about 60 miles in the other direction.

Casinos are owned by various Indian Tribes in Oregon. You can find them online with a quick search. Here's a couple on the coast for example.

Sorry, we do not rent our vacation home out.

Here are a few day trips. Remember after September, Newberry National Volcanic Monument is closed.

Paulina Lake/East Lake: Visit Paulina Falls (about 5 min. walk to the falls) with lunch at Paulina Lake Lodge. If the Big Obsidian Flow trail is open, you can walk just a short walk to see the obsidian. No need to take the whole walk unless you want to. Some great views from the trail. But if mobility challenged, just walk until you see the obsidian.

Sisters: Cute town with lots of shops and restaurants/cafes. Along the way is the 3 Sisters (mountain peaks) view. Also, Bend Distillery (flavored vodkas, whiskey) if you like that.

Cascade Lakes Scenic Hwy.: South Century Drive (Hwy 42) to Hwy 46 North. Visit Fall River Hatchery, Lunch at Elk Lake Lodge & Marina, Sparks Lake walk along the shoreline, Mount Bachelor (ski lift to top if desired), then back to Bend/Sunriver

Smith Rock State Park near Terrebonne (north on Hwy 97) Walks along the Crooked River, fantastic rock formations.

Crater Lake (We have gone down and done the loop road around the lake with a visitor to the Rim Village Visitor center in one day.)

Eugene: South on Hwy 97 to Hwy 58 (or reverse if you are coming into Eugene) Visit the Lowell Covered Bridge, Odell Lake and Salt Creek Falls. Wineries are just beyond Eugene if desired. It is a large college town. Go Ducks!

The old town of Bend is very cute. Drake Park is lovely to walk in. Bend Brewing Company is a nice casual restaurant with a view of Mirror Pond. Pine Tavern (Restaurant) has been there since 1936. A pine tree grows through there dining room.

Old Mill district has shopping and a movie theater complex. Nice views of the Deschutes River. Lots of people kayak, float and paddle board on the river.

High Desert Museum is top rate.

There are other places like Benham Falls and Tumalo Falls, but require hikes to get to the falls.

Sunriver also has the Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory. Many times they have programs for the public. It is worth going to their website to see if they have something while you are there that interests you.

I want to add that October is my favorite time to be up in Oregon (we live outside of Sacramento in the Sierra Foothills). I can read out on our deck or have happy hour watching the deer and squirrels. Hajha, so does our golden retriever! Days are mild, nighttime can get cold. My husband loves to fly fish that time of year. Perfect time to visit!

Lots of fun to be had in the Bend/Sunriver area.

I second BarbAnn's recommendations. The trail to Benham Falls is nice, flat and really not far. Its makes a nice day.

If you spend your first night in Eugene, you could spend the next day on your way to Bend seeing some nice scenery. Salt Creek Falls would be a nice stop. Its the second highest falls in Oregon.

There is no such thing as IF you go to Crater Lake NP. You MUST go. It is second only to the Grand Canyon in beauty.

Interesting to see the negative comments about Eugene. When we moved there from PA (years ago), we thought it was a terrific base for exploring both the coast and the Cascades. We did lots of day trips from Eugene, plus some overnights at Odell Lake. And we really liked spending time in the city itself (so healthy! I lost 25 pounds in eight weeks from walking 5 miles a day, doing Jazzercise three nights a week and eating lots of sushi). McMinnville wasn't such a draw in those days, although my in-laws later moved there and really enjoyed it.

I live in Eugene. I don’t think it’s bad- just not base for day trips. The forest fires have taken their toll up the McKenzie leaving vast areas of burned and fallen trees.
Has taken time following Covid to get restaurants up and running again.
Bend has more going on and more convenient for day trippers. In my opinion.
