Since you need to be in TriBeca eventaully, and there are so many great options in TriBeca, I would stay in the neighborhood. You didn't post a price range, although Danube is fairly expensive, so there are any number of great options (of which, Danube is definitely one of them):

Odeon (French bistro)
The Harrison (contemporary American)
City Hall (sea food)
Duane Park Cafe (contemporary)
Chanterelle (classic French)
Flor de Sol (Spanish tapas)
Scalini Fedeli (Italian)

By far, my favorite suggestion would be to go to Bouley Market, which is Bouley's moderately priced restaurant used as a training ground for his other establishments. The menu is mostly contemporary American with a French influence, although there are also two sushi chefs on staff who turn out all sorts of Japanese dishes, not all of which involve raw fish. It's a fun place to eat, with an open kitchen and a hip crowd (although, early in the evening, probably less so).

Landmarc, while a good restaurant, is overpriced for what it is.

And, just to jump into the WD-50 ("WD" are the initials of the chef, Wylie Dufresne, and "50" refers to it's address at 50 Clinton Street) fray, it's a great restaurant with one of the most influential chefs in New York. The idea that you can't have a great meal there unless you're some sort of sophisticate is simply ridiculous.
