Open question for Fodors Editors.
Last evening I went to the trouble to type out a lengthy recommendation to a post asking for Disney resort recommendations. It was well thought out, informative, and I think very helpful to the poster. Imagine my surprise when I see that this reply was deleted! Why was my reply deleted?
I think you are doing a disservice to the posters here by deleting legitimate information. Why should anyone bother to respond to questions when the editors are going to delete them? Please answer the question and/or but my reply back.

I just (last night and this morning) had a lengthy new post about our Keys trip just disappear.
Went into a black hole, and never emerged.
The only possible problem I could see is that I gave an URL for a Keys photo album that I'd put up on the Yahoo photo site.
Interesting...

The problem here is not aggressive deleting by Fodors, it is lengthy posts. There is some unknown size limit for postings; postings that are too large just disappear. Cut your lengthy report into smaller chunks, post them one after the other, and they will appear. See the Took my sister Amy to England report on the Europe Board.

I frequently leave lengthy posts and never have a problem with getting it deleted. Why aren't you emailing fodors? They have always been very good about deleting irresponsible replys while leaving my replys alone on the same thread. Deleting the crap is a full time job as you can see from much of the nonsense that gets posted. Board has really gone down hill as tourist traffic has slowed down. Last year this time you just had many more experienced travelers on line. Always had some kids playing but no where near the moronic posts you see now.

Yesterday (or maybe the day before) I posted a couple of brief replies to different questions, but they didn't "take". It's not that they were deleted, they just never posted in the first place. I kept hitting my back button and re-posting till they finally posted. It was the only time I've ever had this happen. Maybe it was just a super busy time???

I wonder if you attempted a more professional or perhaps courteous approach maybe you would get better results. I guess I am speaking about tone here. Not meaning to insult here but just look at your last line kind of sounds like a pouting teen. If you are not a pouting teen why would you want to convey that image?

Well gee Steve and xxx, perhaps you don't mind it when you spend time to write something in an attempt to help other posters out only to have it erased, but I do. Yes, I'm pouting. I fail to see how my question was discourteous. "Please answer the question and/or put my reply back" is unprofessional and discourteous? I guess everyone has their own perception.
If people's responses start disappearing on a regular basis I guarantee you most of us aren't going to bother to respond, which for the real travelers would be a shame, and Fodors won't have a site to offer anyone, free or not.

I had similar problems yesterday trying to post a reply, and it didn't take. Tried a few times on a few different threads. Nina, I don't think your posted was deleted by Fodors editors, they were just having some kind of system problem that wasn't adding posts. I know it is frustrating! I suggest if you have lengthy and well-thought out post you could copy and paste it somewhere else (like as a note in Outlook or a Word document) until you are sure the post has "taken."
