Amen. Good post "loo". I would only again recommend Crater Lake - and after lunch looking through the glass ceiling at Multnomah Falls http://www.multnomahfallslodge.com/ - one could be at the turnoff from I-5 to Ashland about 5 hours later. From there to Crater Lake is what - another hour plus? So if you decide to do that - you should have plenty of daylight to see the wonder of Crater Lake. http://tinyurl.com/82wfoe7

Or - attending a Shakespeare Play is a good alternative.

Either way - you could grab a room in Ashland/or the surrounding area for a few hours sleep (or just curl up in your car) - and if you were heading south on I-5 by 7 AM - you should be in SF about 5 plus hours later, a bit more perhaps to get down to the airport but well in time for your 3 PM flight.

BTW - check the posts under Oregon for Ashland restaurant recommendations - and high school friends of mine (one is a restaurateur and the other in the health food biz) swear by the burgers at Jaspers or the Loft Brasserie.

If you prefer more upscale/French - Amuse is recommended - and other good choices are Peerless and Lark.

And if you hadn't stayed in a hotel room the night before - I think there are shower facilities at SFO.
