On-line hotel reservations

Can anyone tell me how reliable is the online hotel reservations that we find on the internet these days? Has anyone ever been defaulted before or has anyone had any problems with any particular site? I am planning a trip this May to the US and it would sure help me a lot if I could get my accommodations booked myself than through the agents. Please comment. Thanks

I made all of my reservations for Europe on the internet, saved money by getting internet specials, and was very happy with the whole system. I read in the L.A. Times last Sunday that 25%25 OF ALL HOTEL BOOKINGS are now made via internet and 58%25 are still made thru travel agents. I think we will see a big increase in that number as soon as more people realize how great and easy it is. I live in So. Calif and belong the the AAA (Auto Club) and have access to motel listings through their books. If I can be of any assistance just e mail me.

In the last year, my spouse and I traveled to Europe
and the East Coast (N.Y., Boston, D.C.), and I booked all our rooms via the Internet. My own preference is for TravelNow (www.travelnow.com), as it gives you a fairly comprehensive overview of the site (location, cost, nearby attractions, amenities, room types, etc) I'm disabled, so I have some special needs that TravelNow generally accomodates quite well. It also kept me from lugging my blowdrier to Paris, because I knew in advance that my hotel had their own. (Good to know if that sort of thing is important to you, too!)
Best wishes, and enjoy your visit!

Highly recommend www.180096hotel.com. Rock bottom (better than anywhere else) rates, highly reliable. Book through here all the time.
