Islandmom- just FYI, there is a Reggae festival in Bricktown this weekend. Have not been before (have only been living in OKC a few months), so cannot speak to exactly what it is all about, but should have music and island-themed food available. Admission is free before 5 or 6pm today and tomorrow. Info is in the Gazette and in today's paper.
Also, in addition to the films shown at the OKC Art Museum in downtown on Thursday nights, learned recently that there is also a rooftop cocktail party. Cover charge ($5-7?) includes a drink ticket and admission to to the museum exhibits. We hope to try it out soon.

We arrived too late last night because the festival ended at 10pm. Maybe we can go tonight.
I was scheduled to leave the 30th. Due to a funeral I had to reschedule. They can't get me out of here until the 11th!
Last night Bullnaza (sp?) was going on too. If I wasn't in a skirt I would have tried the mechanical bull. You fall off onto air mattresses.

Last night I tried Jimmy Curino's (spelling?) for the first time. YUM YUM YUM!!!!! We also tried Texidelphia for the first time - yucky.
I went to a new Bricktown club with no dancing but outside roof drinking last night. Didn't catch the name, but it is caddycorner to Chemistry. That was a good spot for visiting with friends.

Is Cafe Bargoos still open? I couldn't find it. And what is the best menu item at the Indian place in Bricktown? I'm not familar with Indian food.
Weds we go to the Wiggles concert with friends at the Ford Center. Please pass the booze and earplugs LOL!

Also, if you had to pick the Cowboy Museum or Frontier City for a horse loving 3 year old, which is the best? And has anyone been to the new aquarium near Tulsa? I'm wondering if it is worth the drive for a family who lives near the ocean.

Regarding the OU Art Museum. Looks like 2004 is the year to explore OK.
Construction is under way for a new 34,000-square-foot addition, which will be located to the west of the Museum?s existing 27,000-square-foot building and is expected to open in the fall of 2004. To be named in honor of Mary and Howard Lester of San Francisco, the wing will permanently house the Weitzenhoffer Collection of French Impressionism. The wing will also include galleries for other selections from the Museum?s permanent collection, an auditorium, an orientation room, a classroom, a museum store, and a new main entrance.
Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Hugh Newell Jacobsen of Washington, D.C., the expansion will be an important architectural landmark, a work of art in its own right as strong as the collections it will house. Jacobsen is already well known at OU for the expansion of Boyd House, the residence of the university?s president, which blends seamlessly with the original historic structure.
The addition will connect to both the ground floor and lower level of the current Museum building. The Weitzenhoffer Collection will be exhibited on the ground floor of the expansion in rooms that will evoke the paintings? original settings in the dining room, living room, and library of the Weitzenhoffers? Oklahoma City home. The installation will include Mrs. Weitzenhoffer?s collection of English furniture and Chinese export porcelain. Also on the ground level will be four other large galleries as well as smaller, more intimate galleries for works on paper. The museum?s new main entrance, orientation gallery, and store will be on this level, too.
The expansion?s lower level will include a large gallery with moveable walls for temporary exhibitions, and a 150-seat auditorium, a classroom, storage, a catering kitchen, and offices. Natural light, flowing through lightwells and skylights, will illuminate many of the building?s galleries and other spaces.
The addition and corresponding renovation of the existing Museum will cost $14 million, half of which OU will provide and half of which was raised privately.

Hi again- we went to Reggae fest Saturday afternoon and it was pretty fun. Very good music and lots of people of all ages.
I think the club you went to in Bricktown is called Lit (pronounced "lite" for some reason). Have heard good things about it- will have to try soon.
Cafe Bargoos just opened, so I hope it is still in business. It is in the Paeso. If you are on Walker, turn east onto 30th, you'll see signs for the Paeso, turn right where you see all the Spanish buildings. The road curves slightly- Cafe Bargoos is in the middle where the road splits.
I would not go to Tulsa just for the aquarium- have heard that it is nice, but small and that entrance fee is kind of high. If you are going there anyway and make a day of it, might include it then. Would be easy to catch on your way in or out of town.

Islandmom and MD4, I totaly agree about Lit. It's by far my favorite Bricktown hangout. Designed by local architect Rand Elliott, it's one of the more distinctive places in Bricktown, as chic as anything else in town.
For those of you who haven't been there yet, it's located right on the Ballpark plaza, in a converted service station. When you approach, you see a monochromatically-backlit plexiglass wall that makes a silhouette out of the bar crowd. Local art hangs on its exposed walls. Lit's one of the coolest scenes you'll see in OKC.

Yes, it was chic. Next weekend I may try Rain with the waterfalls and dancing.
Today I discovered La Baguette on campus shut down. The Greek House is closed until the end of August. I believe they return to Greece each summer. We ate at La Baguette across from Norman High School. The old man there was very kind and the food was good as always.
I did find an Indian Taco place on NW 50th and MacArthur. It looks like a dive, however I may still try it.
Fresh produce from Farmers and rose rocks can be purchased from roadside trucks on Sooner Rd in Moore.
Today I spotted an article about and Oklahoma-made store www.theoklahomastore.com
Also read there are still wild horses here.

Today I discovered La Baguette on campus shut down. The Greek House is closed until the end of August. I believe they return to Greece each summer. We ate at La Baguette across from Norman High School. The old man there was very kind and the food was good as always.

Today we drove an hour to the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum. The tragety of the day is I was still wearing my pant size sticker all down my leg 
We also spotted a famous black actress. I'm trying to remember her name. I'm wondering what she was doing in the middle of nowhere. Honolulu has a more elaborate version of this museum. The kids still loved it and we enjoyed the adventure. It cost $6

And the saga continues....
Today we saw the "Wiggles" in concert. They are the Beatles to ages 2-6 year olds. $20 bucks a pop even for kids! Multiply that by 15,000 people or so for two 1 hour shows. I'm in the wrong business! $2.50 drinks plus all the merchandise. How does the commercial go.... the memories with friends were PRICELESS.
The Ford Center was the best decorated arena I have ever seen.
And to add to our list of chain eateries - Marie Calendars, Zio's in Bricktown... both average and nothing to write home about.
And my favorite discovery - Tecate at Chelino's serve in a fishbowl type glass on ice with lime guts and salt all around the edge! YUM!

If you haven't hit Norman yet, try the Mont for lunch. Outdoor seating if it isn't too hot--great "Swirls"--frozen margaritas mixed with frozen sangria. It is more of a bar than restaurant, but the food is good.
Also, at Penn Square the Pepperoni Grill is usually pretty good northern Italian food.

How funny! I went there today with a childhood friend who now lives in Tampa. No swirls due to they hit me too hard and I have to be mommy. We sat outside- it was WAY to hot today. You're right,it is a great spot.
Went back to Coaches to shoot pool tonight. It's a much better spot at night.

Yea! Found Indian Tacos at the Balloon Fest! Yum. Hopefully my adopted duck will win the Corvette in the race. My daughter had her photos taken with a baby tiger and I was about to take photos with the daddy tiger until their camera broke. She also enjoyed a pony ride. The best part was watching the hot air balloons take off!
Enjoyed the buffet and rose water tea at Misal.
Found quaint gift shops in antique homes in between highway 9 and Lindsey on W 24th in Norman.
