Makena Beach, Maui
Poipu Beach, Kauai
Warm Waters, usually sunny. Beautiful scenery. That goes for both.

Since this is the US board I'll remain there, all for various reasons - Holden Beach, NC - No people, no resorts, no high prices, 3+ hours from my home, been going there for 40+ years. OBX - Unique, interesting. Jones Beach, NY - A totally different kind of beach experience. Seabrook Island, SC - Great for golf but still private, particularly the beaches since it is geared to the older set. Amelia Island, Fl. - See the Holden Beach comments.. but w/a great, historic old town + fine dining.

That link does not appear to be working. Maybe this will:

Jones Beach, LI probably because of all the time I spent there as a teenager '48-'51. Another favorite was Midway Island, and I'll always remember Momtego Bay and Red Stripe beer..

as a "old Rhode Islander, I remember Misquamicut- and Matunick and Scarborough! Buit I must say I agree with Nina, only I'll go down a bit farther and say Newcomb's Hollow. This year we shall introduce the grandchildren to the "beach party' at Newcomb's.

Must admit I loved the pink sand of Bermuda, and find sand of St. Johns though.

JCorrea- Where is Catle Beach in SC? I though I knew most of them there: I hadn't heard of Castle. Thanks!

I loved the now defunct beach at Castle Harbour in Bermuda. Truly was pink sand at that beach!

While there is plenty to dislike about Cancun, my DH and I both agree that they have lovely beaches. Really, our all-time favorite.

Palm beach, Aruba. Why? Because the water is clear, warm and you can wade out quite a long way. Bon dia.

I worked for JBCC East and West Bathouses and Central Mall. Our after work hangouts were Cozy Cafe and the Tower restaurant, Blue Anchor, and the Jones Beach Hotel in Wantaug.

I'm guesssing that you worked for the state.

In the US, definitely OBX, NC. Specifically the Corolla area because it has never been crowded the times I've been (high season and off season) and also because it's so clean and natural. No huge hotels along the shore for miles.

I feel peaceful just thinking about it! Ahhh.
