"In the Heights" is an off-Broadway musical that got good reviews. I took a friend to see it--she liked it more than I did.

The easy way is to find a review is to Google the name of the show enclosed in quotation marks and followed by the word review:

"in the heights" review
"legally blonde" review
"jersey boys" review

And so on.

Are you familar with or have you seen many of the Broadway shows? If yes, then you may enjoy Forbidden Broadway (if no, then the gags will not be as meaningful). I have not seen the latest version that just started, but saw the previous one and thought it was hysterical and well performed. Can also agree with the Altar Boyz recommendation. Also enjoyed I Love You Your Perfect Now Change(light comedy) (not sure if its still running or not). All of the above are musicals(not sure if by plays, you mean straight dramas or not).

If you go to playbill.com you'll get a complete list and details on each show - performances etc.

I enjoyed Alter Boyz, the theater is small and every seat is a pretty decent seat.
