I'll be visiting friends the last wkend in Oct. Besides the Freedom Trail, Fanuiel Hall, MFA, and, perhaps, the Kennedy Library, any other suggestions?

The Boston Public Library is SPECtacular! Lots of art (more art than books, as far as I could tell - lol), with a general reading room that looks like something from the Hearst Castle. Strolling Newbury St. is fun for high-end shopping, lots of food choices, and people-watching.

Check out the Gardner Museum, a 3 minute walk from the MFA. Spend some time walking Charles Street in Beacon Hill and Hanover and Salem Street in the North End. Make sure you take a walk through the Public Garden and down Commonwealth Ave. a few blocks.

At the library ask to see where the John Singer Sargent Murals are.
Check out artsboston.com for discount tickets to plays or Ryles Jazz Club for local acts or The Regatta Bar for national acts.

The best part of the JFK library are the 30 minute documentaries on JFK and RFK, check to make sure which days they are showing.

Take the historic trolley tour it includes a harbour visit by boat. Beacon hill is interesting and get up the Prudential building for a panoramic view of Boston.

Saturday Oct 29 the Boston Landmarks Orchestra will be performing at the Kennedy Library at 10:30 and 12 noon. Its a Halloween program and kids are invited to wear costumes. The orchestra is great. I'm planning on bringing my girls. Reservations are required but the program is free.

The weekend before Halloween is a great time to visit Salem MA., which is a short drive from Boston. There's alot of Halloween related activities going on that weekend.
