Ocean water temperature

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how warm the water is in July in the Kaanapali area... My FI wants to go somewhere where the water is bath warm, and even though I realize that it probably isn't that warm, would like to know if it is warmer than in Los Angeles.etc...

The water here is WAY warmer than LA! They are on the Alaskan current and their water is COLD all year except July thru Sept. Hawaii water temp is usually in the upper 70s.

I don't know the water temp in LA but being from south east Texas on the Gulf coast the Hawaii water is COLD!! Been there 5 times and still don't get use to it till it's time to come home. Just plunge in and have fun.

Celine,

I was in Maui with my wife a couple of weeks ago and the water temperature was 74 degrees. Will probably be several degrees warmer in the summer.

I've snorkeled several areas in Maui in January. The water felt very pleasant to me. Not bathtub warm but just about right to be refreshing after lying in the sun on the beach and warm enough that I never thought about how long I was in the water.

If you get cold: Buy a shortie wetsuit or a lycra skin suit. They are only about $100 bucks and will not only keep you warmer, but keep you from getting sunburned. A cheap investment for a lot of fun.
