oahu tours
My husband and I are traveling to Oahu for a vacation. I would like to hear from anyone that may have taken the Circle Island tour. Are there other tours that would be better. Neither of us have ever been to Hawaii?

They do lots of tours. I did the day tour of Pearl Harbor with them, and it was great!

Cvernor, if you and your husband will be on Oahu for several days, and renting a car, are you sure you'd want to take a tour? It's an easy island to get around. However, if you are staying in Waikiki with no plans to rent a car, you might want to try Roberts Hawaii Tours. (We used them for a one-day trip to Big Island once.) They have an excellent reputation, and I've heard the Circle Island tour is very informative and worthwhile. The concierge at your hotel can arrange this for you, or you can contact Roberts yourself at:

Hope this helps!

When I lived on Oahu I used Roberts Hawaii for all our Inter-island tours and never had a bad experience.
Yes, it is worth it to go around Oahu (although you actually don't quite go all the way around unless the NW area now has a through road) and I highly recommend renting a car instead of going on a tour. When busloads of tourists descend on a formerly quiet area, you just can't enjoy ir much even if you're one of the tourists!

We did the Robert's Pearl Harbor/Arizona/Honolulu city tour. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeble. Granted, we could have saved some $$ and drove around but the information he provided was something we could not have provided. It truly enriched the experience.

There are also smaller, more intimate tours of the State Capitol, the Mission Houses, and Chinatown.
The Chinese Chamber of Commerce offers an inexpensive guided walking tour of Chinatown every Tuesday morning at 9:30 for $5 a head, telephone 533-3181. For $10, you get a culinary tour of Chinatown, dim sum lunch included, email [email protected]
