o Help! Restaurant suggestion for Louisville, KY

I am going to meet my cousin in Louisville for dinner this week and need some local restaurant suggestion. I will have a car but will be somewhat limited on time so really don’t want to travel more then 20 min. from downtown. I would prefer a locally owned Mom & Pop type of place that is unique to Louisville, but as long as the food & service is good it doesn’t really matter.

Look no further than locally-owned L & N Wine Bar & Bistro.

Try Bearnos by-the Bridge at 131 W Main St in the downtown area. Great pizza and Italian sandwiches. They also have a full bar. Great local chain. There are also other locations. We often eat at the Taylorsville Road location across from Bowman Field. My other two favorites are located in Fern Creek on Bardstown Road and at 8019 Preston Highway. The breadsticks are awesome, and just a few pieces of the Mama Bearnos Special pizza is enough to fill me up.

I hope you didn't choose Bearno's - especially the by the bridge location. But Lynn's was/is a great suggestion.

I too hope you don't try Bearno's. It's OK pizza, but there are MUCH better options in Louisville. If you want to experience some of Louisville's funky and fun personality, I suggest Ramsi's on Bardstown Road in the Highlands. It's less than 5 miles from downtown and is within walking distance to several ecclectic boutiques and shops. It offers very reasonable prices and a great variety of dishes.

If you want more options, visit louisvilleoriginals.com for listings and menus from locally owned restaurants.

Enjoy your visit to Louisville!
