The only Westin I know of in NYC is the Essex House--is that what you mean? If so, the location is lovely, on the southern end of Central Park so if you have a high floor premium room, you'll have a nice view of the park. Westins in general, (and this hotel in particular,) have good reputations (though I've never stayed there)There's not much you'll want to see that's within a couple of blocks, but you're an pleasant walk (or a short cab ride away from) Times square, theaters, etc.
Also, Easy to get to (again by cab or bus) many museums. It's on a street with a lot of car traffic (most major NYC streets and avenues but not a lot of foot traffic in the evening. Mostly, you're surrounded by other hotels and apartnment buildings rather than stores or restaurants, though those are just a couple blocks away

THe Essex House is a very nice hotel with fantastic views of Central Park from many of the rooms. part of the hotel is a separate hotel, the St. Regis at the Essex House.
I suggest you ask for a park view room; if you can't get one, try and avoid any room overlooking 58th Street that is below the 10th floor; the garbage trucks stop behind the hotel early in the morning most days and can be heard in the lower floor rooms!

Reasonable internet rates make this one of the best 4-star hotel deals in NYC. Location is great--easy walk to theaters including Lincoln Center. I love the lobby. Other posters are right--request a quiet room, which I would do at any hotel in NYC. Parking garage behind Essex House is one of the best deals in that area also. Obviously you pay a hefty premium for park-view rooms, so that choice would be up to you. Location cannot be beat.

I just returned from a six night stay at the Essex House Westin in a room with one queen bed. We'd reserved a room with a king but apparently that wasn't available upon our arrival. The room was small and plain. The bathroom was very small (with weird fixtures in the tub that were a little tricky). According to others in my group, the rooms with two twin beds were "huge" in comparison. On previous trips to NYC I've stayed at the Michelangelo and I'd go back in a second! The room we had there was awesome (both in terms of size and decor). The location of the Essex house is great but not worth it in my opinion.
