NYC Weekend Visit - Help!!

My husband and I are planning a weekend get away to New York City some time within the next couple of months.

Could I get some hotel recommendations. Looking for a nice hotel, with a pool and other amenities, close to shopping and things to do.

Could I also get some "must do" restaurant suggestions.

Also, how does one go about getting tickets to the theatre? I hear that the Lion King is the hottest musical going and it seems as though it is booked for the next 6 months.

Your help is appreciated.

Please check posted recommendations under New York. Some Posters contributed greately on this Forum in regard to hotels, restaurants, and getting 1/2 price tickets to Broadway shows. I used them on my recent trip to New York City

First about hotels with pools: NYC hotels with pools are very few in number. The only one I know about is the Sheraton Manhattan at 53rd Street and 7th Avenue, which is convenient to both shopping and the theaters. What kind of amenities are you looking for?
As for tickets to The Lion King, the best chance you have is spending time waiting at the box office for last minute returns or cancellations.
There are plenty of other good shows with ticket availability: Cabaret, Chicago, Kiss Me Kate, to name but three.

We stayed at the Hotel Edison. The location is great and it was clean and safe. Lion King was terrific. See it if you can. We bought our tickets a year in advance. The half price TKTS place is right around the corner from the Edison. Get there early. We were lucky to get 7 tickets together for Saturday Night Fever---very enjoyable.

No offense, but there is much too much to do in NYC to think about going swimming.
