NYC Weather: March and April

Is March or April a better month for visiting New York City, from a weather perspective?

This is my first trip to NYC, and I know nothing is 100%, but any feedback would be helpful..

thanks!!

April is definitely the better month to visit. March is still winter in NY and snow occurs with some regularity! (Hey, we've even had an occasional freak storm in April!)

Usually April is a better weather wise, but we've had some weird weather patterns lately, so it's hard to tell. But NYC is not dependent on the weather to have a good time. You can have a wonderful time in any weather.

Ny has an extremely unpredictable weather pattern. You might a few 70 degree days in March, and snow in early April. Or the reverse. Or neither. If you want to play the odds, though, April is your better bet. Whatever you pick, pack for everything - rain, snow, and warm sunny eather!!

April better than March but May would even be better.

If you go in April, pack your raincoat & umbrella. You will need them!
Went in April one long week-end last year--it rained the entire time.

Rainy, its a good idea to pack an umbrella for any trip to NYC. Our rainfall is spread out pretty evenly all year here. The only difference is how cold it might be, not how wet.
Yes of course, May is warmer than April, April is warmer than March, etc. I wouldn't let weather be the deciding factor unless you had specific outdoor activities depending on it (though I can't think of anything that would apply to either March or April). Keep in mind that Easter (and Passover)is at the end of March this year, and that brings more crowds to the city. That would seem to be a bigger factor than the weather for most people.
