NYC: restaurants in the Theater District

My sons and I have matinee tickets for Spamalot in mid-March. I searched for but didn’t find a recent thread on restaurants for dinner in the Theater District. It will be our last night in the city together with a special friend.
Thanks for your help!

Are you looking for someplace fancy or more casual? You can review theater district restaurants on Yelp by cuisine as well as Time Out NY or other sites. Spamalot is at the St James Theater, 44th street closer to 8th Avenue than to Broadway. One of our favorite restaurants for pre or post-theater is Marseille. The atmosphere is lovely, nice menu and nice service. I am pretty certain that it is on the corner of 9th and 44th so an easy walk.

You will enjoy Spamalot as it is a fun and silly show. Haven't seen this latest production but I did see it a few years ago at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine, first production post-pandemic.

I recommend Becco, Barbetta, and Cafe Un Deux Trois.

I have enjoyed Marseille and Toalache and would be happy to return to either of them for dinner. On a visit to NYC earlier this month, Molyvos, at the corner of West 43rd and Ninth Avenue, was our choice for Sunday night dinner. Greek. Of the three, Molyvos seemed a bit more spacious and relaxing—and that was on the final day of Restaurant Week. We particularly liked the calamari appetizer which, while the description sounds like every other calamari appetizer, was really delicious.

Thanks, k_marie, for your input! I feel confident now that we’ll have good memories of that last night’s dinner.

Reporting back, we went to Un Deux Trois, where friend, Mary Ann, and I enjoyed the flavorful lamb chops. Was so happy to be able to walk there from the theater. And the play was fun for all!

Glad that you enjoyed Un Deux Trois as well as the play. Good thing you saw it when you did as it has an early closing date
