NYC Question about WTC, just curious!

I'm a Texan and have visited NYC several times and like others am very much in love with the Big Apple. What I would like to know is: was the WTC outdoor observation deck open on a daily basis? We were there July 2000 and toured the observation floor (indoors on top of the WTC)and did not see where you could go up higher to view from outdoors. I know this question serves no purpose now but for my own curiosity but I was thinking and reading NYC websites so thought I'd post. Like every American I can't believe the towers are gone. We will visit NYC AGAIN!!!

I was at the WTC in 1999 and toured the very top of the observation deck (outside). I don't know if it was open every day or what, but I certainly got up there!

Judy, God Bless You! New Yorkers Love Ya Right Back! I very much enjoy the lovely state of Texas. I've been to San Antonio, Austin, Dallas & Houston.

I believe the observation deck was open depending on the weather and wind.

The observation deck was open most of the time depending on the wind and weather. The hard part was finding it. For some reason they didnt mark the entrance. It was just another escalator that lead you up to the top fro mthe observation floor.
The view was incredible. We have visited a few times and my boyfriend who lives right across from the WTC and I went up for the last time in April. I of course forgot my camera and thought we would always have time to capture the beauty on film. Sadly we wont.
We had dinner reservations on the weekend after the 11th to celebrate a birthday at Windows on the World. It breaks my heart to know that those things arent there anymore.
Please come back and visit, it is still the greatest city and I believe it got even better.

The outdoor observaton deck was open as much as the weather would allow. Also they sometimes closed it if they felt any screwballs were on the loose who might do some daring stunt. (I think they closed it for a few hours recently when the French guy tried to hang glide onto the Statue of Liberty!)

To borrow from a Broadway show: On a clear day you really could see forever. WTC was an old friend who will be greatly missed.

Phillip you are so RIGHT !!!
I am an Englishman who has taken his family to the top of the WTC three times. To think that it is no longer there is apalling ! New York is our favourite city and this atrocity must not go unanswered ! Those responsible must be brought to justice !
