House seats are usually either row 5, 6 or 7 in the center of the orchestra -- presumably the best seats in the house. These are held (number of seats determined by the size of the show) until maybe the day before or day of the performance -- for cast and people associated with the show. If they are sold -- it is as "premier seating" which these days are around $200, sometimes more. But sometimes they may be given to TKTS at last minute and then they are sold at a much lower rate -- perhaps 50% off the price of the regular (not the premier) seating.
Glad you loved ONCE. And hope you love the two shows today. I'm headed into the city to see the off Broadway small musical The Last Five Years at Second Stage which is sold out, but I was lucky to get a single online yesterday.
Go to Vanya with an open mind and just think about enjoying the show. A few have remarked about not "getting" all the Chekhov stuff, which really isn't important. It's just silly fun.

So glad you enjoyed "Once." We too loved it, as I mentioned and as ours was kind of a last minute trip last month, I feel very fortunate we had the opportunity to see it after missing it last May when we were there. Enjoy your next two shows!

Vanya review - loved it. Hilarious. laughed all the way through. I agree - I am not very familiar with Chekov, but all you had to know is that it is the source of their names and some of the quotes.
Our seats were third row bought yesterday. The people by us had gotten theirs from tkts an hour earlier when the shows they wanted to see we're sold out. They knew nothing about the play, but I heard lots of laughing from their direction too.

Pippen: there was a sensual part to Pippen, but if you are comfortable with that, they'd likely like it. the high school groups sharing the mezzanine with us loved it. (I saw Moving Out with a conservative friend and she spent part of the show looking downward so as not to see the sensual parts.)
Sanya has quite a bit that appeals to those growing up in the 50s.
Once was a poignant and somewhat sad story of love.
I'm not sure they would "get" Peter. Some of the humor went over my head or I couldn't process/hear we'll enough at times. I knew it was funny because of the laughter , but didn't catch what was said. (Not all of it - just some of it.).
