NYC: Parker Meridien or Ritz Carlton CP
Would you go for
Parker Meridien Park View room for $209
or
Ritz Carlton CP Standard room (no view) for $255
I know the ritz carlton standard rooms are about 425 sq ft, which isnt too bad.
Mostly interested in location, comfort and service...
It's just so hard to decide!
Thank you...

I just spoke to a friend who recommended the Parker Meridien after staying there last week. He described it as having something of a hip, W Hotel-like feel...so maybe you could choose between the Parker and the Ritz based on your desire for hip luxury or classic luxury. Sorry I can't help more, other than to say that you got good rates for both.

I am not discouraging you from the parker meridian, but we could hear the people in the next room having sex. It was funny and yet we were hoping they would hurry up so we could get some sleep. The question is did they hear us????? ha ha...It is a nice hotel and has an indoor pool on the top floor. The lobby is okay. I have not been to the Ritz carlton so I can not compare. I am sure the rooms there are nice...

The Ritz Carlton is a much nicer hotel and it does have a good spa from what I hear. It is getting rave reviews on tripadvisor.
Parker Meridien is more modern (but not newer)in style, has a popular rest. called Normas. The locations are very similar.
I'd pick the Ritz if the extra price won't be a hardship.

Depends what style of hotel appeals to you, but the LPM is not a luxury hotel by any stretch. Maybe a bad analogy, but I'd compare the LPM to a funky diner if the RC CP were a nice traditional restaurant. The RC is only 1-2 years old. It's location is tops. Bed quality, sheet quality, service and bathrooms are 3 times better than the LPM.
If it were me, the LPM would have to be at least $200 cheaper before I'd consider it preferable.

Claire,
You made the right choice. LPM is nice, but it is not int he same league as the RCCP. The RCCP competes with the FS, Mandarin, Penn, etc. The LPM is in the next group.
That being said eating breakfast at Norma's at the LPM is fun. If you have some time (the wait is usually 45 min), stop by there one morning.
