NYC in April - planning on using Priceline
We will be travelling to NYC during the 3rd week in April - 2 adults and 2 kids. I want to use Priceline for the room(s). Probably I should bid on 2 rooms, yes?? This could still be less expensive than bidding on a suite that would fit 4 comfortably, don't you think?
Also, for whatever reason, I haven't been able to access www.biddingfortravel.com for days. Anyone else having trouble getting on to that website. Are they still viable?

I have no problems accessing biddingfortravel. Try this link instead, it might work:
http://p070.ezboard.com/bpricelineandexpediabidding
And no matter how nice the moderators at betterbidding may be, you're certain to get more information reading both boards than just one or the other.
And definitely you should bid for two rooms in NYC for four people. Keep in mind that you're also not guaranteed that those rooms will be connecting, or even next to each other. You may not care if your kids are old enough, but just so you know.
Finally, before you do any bidding, don't assume it will be cheaper than a suite for 4. If saving money is the goal, it always pays to price out your options by more traditional ways before using priceline. You could end up way overpaying if you make assumptions about what your alternatives are.

Check on suite prices before you bid, so you can keep your bid in tune with what's available. For suites, check affinia.com. Many of their hotels have suites, and their website has special offers that can be very good. The Shelburne Murray Hill has nice 1 bedroom suite that are quite roomy (small kitchen, dining area, living room with sofa bed and bedroom with 1 king or 2 double beds). I think some of the other affinia properties are similar but that's the only one I've been in.
If that's Easter break, it may be a busy week so it may be a bit harder on priceline to get a rally good deal, but it's certainly worth a try.

this is so vexing... i still cannot access biddingfortravel, even with the link. i think my computer is blocking that site, for whatever reason. I tried clearing out my internet files and cookies, and still no luck. I don't feel comfortable bidding on priceline without at least looking at biddingfortravel.
i totally agree that the betterbidding moderators are friendlier, sometimes I wonder why anyone ever bothers posting on biddingfortravel since that woman is so incredibly rude to EVERYONE. i may be wrong but it seems that biddingfortravel has more up to date info.
at this point i think i will book a room or suite the old fashioned way. will look into murray hill suite. sounds nice. it is school vacation week and Easter week so probably priceline wouldn't have worked anyway.
