try nationwideflorist.com, they do cake deliveries too. or bday cookies from Mrs. Fields. don't know if they do birthday cakes, but dancingdeer.com has goodies. for candy, tinytrapeze.com . if it's a girl, they like pajamagrams too. or maybe google nyc bakeries in general.

Cafe Lalo, just off Amsterdam in the low 80s, delivers their cakes around the UWS. They have a huge variety, but are a little on the pricey side. It appears their web site is currently down, but, you can give them a call at(212) 496-6031. Also, Crumbs Bake Shop on Amsterdam and 75th makes a mean cupcake (with lots of choices for toppings and fillings). You could order a pack of 6 or more. They have same day delivery in Manhattan. Oh yes, Crumbs is outstanding. Maybe a little expensive, but the quality makes it worthwhile.
