NY weekend in October- 50 somethings

We have a quick weekend we're going in for a wedding- staying at the Marriott at 53rd and 3rd. I've done the main tourist things and museums in past visits. I'm not sure what's in this area that might be fun/new to check out Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. We probably won't have time for a show with the family things going on. Any good ideas? My husband is a musician type and I am not a huge museum person. Thanks.

You might enjoy wandering parts of Central Park in October just as the colors are starting, or a street fair, which goes on every weekend.

You might check www.carnegiehall.com or www.lincolncenter.com for artists and concerts.

A good website for things going on around the city is www.nytourist.com.

There's also the Central Park Zoo or a trip up to the Cloisters.

Have a great time.

Please go to Time Out NY or the Village Voice for the complete listing of musical events. They will everything from jazz, rock, alternative to classical.

Walks through the West Village including Washington Mews, Wash. Square Park, and the residences in the extreme west and those between 9th and 12th Streets from 5th to 6th Ave may be of interest. There are also many unique stores and restaurants for all tastes inluding some on the tiny Cornelia Street.

One of our favorite blocks is Bleecker between 6th and 7th. There is Matt Umanov Guitars, Murray's cheese, comsidered by many to be the best cheese store in the City and Cones our favorite home made ice cream place.

If a museum appeals at all, the Frick is wonderful - a very small, very nice museum that is great for even "non-museum" folks.
