NOVA river rafting in Chickaloon AK

Oops, I first posted on the General Interest board, now reposted on the Alaska boards..........

Anyone been on the Lion's Head rafting trip? How about doing glacier trekking with this company? I've read BudgetQueen's recommendation of MICA, but NOVA offers this in conjunction with their river rafting - wondering about the difference?

I'm not familiar with MICA. But I do know you can't go wrong with Nova. They are very good. Last summer, during June they had a midnight run which I heard good things about. Hopefully, they'll do it again this summer.

If I'm not mistaken, Nova is one of the oldest--if not the oldest--rafting operator in Southcentral Alaska. Chuck Spaulding (the founder) is well-respected. They're definitely the biggest operator on the Matanuska River, and they own great locations at the put-in and take-out.

In case you don't check on your other thread -- FYI to help w/ your future posts, there is no "Alaska Board" or "General Interest Board". There is just one United States forum where all threads are displayed (both of your threads are on the same US board). Clicking on "Alaska" simply lets one search for threads about Alaska.

I did a glacier trek with NOVA a few years ago. Had a great time, guide was wonderful. Much safer trekking out on the glacier with a guide & nice, secure crampons on your shoes; those crevasses are scary!

Are we only two who used MICA and NOVA for rafting and glacier hiking? Comparing both I can tell you that NOVA wins hands down. More friendly and did not worried our trip was longer than scheduled. Our trip was two hours longer than we expected to be. MICA on the other hand dissmissed us go about 20 minutes earlier. In my opinion NOVA is more professional but friendlier at the same time. We are going to use NOVA again

Thanks for the replies. I searched and didn't find anything on NOVA. Glad to hear good reports, it will be convenient to use them for both rafting and ice trekking.
