North Carolina Barbecue - Parker's vs. B's

We will be traveling to Emerald Isle, NC in two weeks (YIPPEE!!!), and would like to stop at a barbecue pit on the way. We usually get off of I95 in Wilson, NC, so we're debating stopping at Parker's or B's Barbecue.

Any pros or cons about the two I mentioned, or suggestions? Thanks!

Or you can get off at Goldsboro and go to Wilber's. Not fancy, but they have good barbecue and awesome hushpuppies.

Thanks - we may just do that! Have you been to either of the other places?

Also check over at chowhound.com. There's usually good food advice there.

I grew up on Wilber's barbecue. I am now living in NY, but whenever I can get to NC, I make sure to visit Wilber's. Good barbecue, great hushpuppies and pitchers of sweet tea - heaven on earth!

Not really a eastern NC BBQ house, but I ate at The Rib Hut in Wilson las weekend and got a half rack. Some of the best ribs I have ever eaten. Not a big menu and it is in a Strip Center but had some character but man, those ribs were good. Also, much bigger ribs than you would get at most restaurants. Fresh salad bar too.

I love Parker's. It gets mixed reviews from Q aficionados but I think they are great.

If you are still in the area you should try B's. The road is being widened and I have heard the sisters might decide to close this landmark.
tip: Ask the other people in line how to order.

Lifelong fan of Parker's here, so that gets my vote.

We didn't make it to B's, mostly because traffic was constant stop and go on I95 and we were afraid they would run out of food before we got there, so we went to Bill's instead, and I agree with artsbabe - it was great! We got a family pack, so we got to try the barbecue, the fried chicken, collard greens (loved them!) and yams.
