NON-PINK (?)Jeep Tours in Sedona

Starting our Southwest vacation in Sedona with 2 sons (10 & 14) in August. Got the "Experience Sedona" booklet and there seems to be several jeep tour companies. We're looking for beautiful vistas but a THRILLING/EXCITING ride as well. Would love opinions on tour companies and the specific tours. Thanks.

Carol, a couple of years ago I flew into Phoenix, rented a jeep cherokee and drove to Sedona among other places. You dont NEED to pay for a Pink Jeep tour. There are miles and miles of uncharted dirt/gravel roads, that you can just head out and look at anything. THe car was about $150 for 9 days. Went wayy in the back country and it was better than any tour.Any view in Sedona is gorgeous. Good Luck.

There is a company called Scottsdale Jeep tours or Sedona Jeep tours. They have two locations. The one in Sedona is located at the airport. The cool thing about them is that you can drive yourself. They give you a map of the area and you explore by yourself. The jeep is off road equiped. I did this a few years ago and am going again next month. It was amazing! E mail me if you cant find the web site.

I second the notion that you don't NEED to do a jeep tour. Rent a 4WD, and go see what YOU want to see, WHEN you want to see it. (there are several books that disuss the "hidden" areas, and others that offer "driving guides".)(please keep in mind, that just because you have a 4WD doesn't mean you're allowed to drive everywhere. some areas are off-limits.) I've driven all through the desert southwest and I think this is the best way to do it. I don't like to be in a "cruise-ship" mode, surrounded with lots of other people. Plus, going it alone affords you a better opportunity to spot wildlife. Have fun.

Another vote for going on your own. My brother and I also rented from the Jeep rental place at the Sedona airport and had a wonderful time. We saw some amazing sights, took our time, and got to do whatever interested us...including parking the jeep at the bottom of a cliff and hiking. I'm sure your sons would love to have their own jeep!
