"I like you a lot, you are a very smart person, but arguing with Starrs about anything is a totally useless endeavor."

Yes, Dukey, clearly I am a slow learner. When am I going to learn that?

The worst part of the Beltway actually isn't even the Beltway: it is the 50 miles between the bottom of the Beltway and Fredricksburg on I-95. Figure that traffic will start increasing around 1-1:30PM in my own experience.

I rEALLLLLLY think it would be a good idea to post this anew. There is 'way too much to wade through from 10 years.

But, Gretchen, so much of the content remains the same! The route disputes; the fight to have the last word, and the traffic between the Beltway and Fredricksburg...our sunny dispositions...

Huh, Gretchen? This thread was started in May of 2016, we well less than two years ago, not 10.

By the way, I forget now if I did 81 or 95 on THAT trip, but i've done it several times since and only once did the 81 route. It was awful -- so much construction, often one lane through busy areas, considerable extra distance, and all in all several hours longer than simply sticking with 95.
