NJ Shore - Avalon vs. Stone Harbor

Looking for a June vacation on the Jersey shore. Mostly looking at Avalon. Curious about whether the beaches in Avalon are all the same? Is there any beach erosion? Would like to find a location that's both within wlaking distance to a beach and to town. Thanks!

I have never been on a beach in Avalon so I can't comment about them. I can tell you that the Stone Harbor beaches have never looked better. They pulled up the drainage pipes and replenished the beaches. They are wide and beautiful.

In full disclosure I have to tell you that we have a house in Stone Harbor so I'm biased. I find SH to be more compact and easier to walk around. I also think its a bit quieter than Avalon. "Town" in Stone Harbor runs along 96th St between 2nd and 3rd Ave and then 1 or 2 blocks over. "Town" in Avalon runs along 2nd Ave. (Dune Dr) between 27th and 20th.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding a rental. Rentals have been down the past couple of years.
