Nice place to stay on beach central coast

Hi,
I am looking for a nice town/hotel to stay on the beach about 1-2 hours from San Jose.
Am planning to leave in 2 days. Have already been to Montery carmel numerous times.
Thanks
Rea

Santa Cruz. Lots of motels. Dunno about hotels, though I guess there are some.

You can't beat the Highlands Inn (it's a Hyatt) just south of Carmel, especially in the light of the wonderful weather we've been having lately, but I think it would be a great place to experience in the rain as well. DH and I just returned Saturday from a stay there last week...sigh. Check it out at tripadvisor.com.

And one more thing

If you drive down from San Jose, stop in at Phil's Fish Market in Moss Landing for a meal. www.philsfishmarket.com

Alohaaa Bets...we are thinking of booking the HI in Dec for my b'day since we haven't been there in over 8yrs...

I was walking on some rocks in Carmel a few years back....I slipped and fell and had a Moss Landing.
Happy T'Giving, Bets.

We've stayed at the Highland's a couple of times and will be there next month for three nights @ $79/night. It's a gorgeous property, loctaed in the Carmel Highlands area.

Has anyone had the Jazz Brunch at Carmel Mission Ranch? ***kim***

Kal and Kim at the Highlands at the same time? The mind boggles! Kim, we did the $79 offer too. Our room, 413, was a spectacular suite that included a spa tub big enough for two, a wood-burning fireplace, and a gorgeous sea view. Binoculars and some ocean-y CDs were provided. We even loved those little bottles of shampoo and soap, called "white ginger." They brought the SF Chron AND the NYT. I'm really sorry DH and I won't be there at the same time as you and the Kahunas.

Oh by the way Kal, there was plenty of closet space, with white fluffy robes hanging in there.

Sorry to hijack the thread; just couldn't restrain myself.

How about the Seascape Resort in Aptos - rental condos on a cliff above the ocean. Just a few miles south of Santa Cruz, but a totally different feel.

Morro Bay is very nice. The Inn at Morro Bay was wonderful. We had the King/Oceanview room with the soft-tub jacuzzis on our small patio.

There are complimentary bikes, a small pool and spa and a very nice on-site, oceanview restaurant where we enjoyed dinner. ***kim***

Morro Bay is much too far if 1 to 2 hours drive from San Jose, is to be met.

Morro Bay? Ummm...that's at least a 3-1/2 hour drive. Seascape Resort , in Aptos, would be a perfect spot for you. Have you ever been to Half Moon Bay? The Ritz Carlton is a dreamy spot of luxury located on the cliffs of HMB.

SEVEN GABLES INN...PACIFIC GROVE. Hard to beat. Overlooks the Monterey Bay.

RITZ CARLTON IN HALF MOON BAY? Another great spot, but bring money.

Too late for poster I know, but for search reference, Half Moon Bay, Landis Shores on beach and The Beach House on the break water. Hi Kim! Hi Kal!
I liked Seascape in aptos also, on cliff with golf cart ride down to beach, no surf to sleep, but unique property.
