Nice Cabin Near Gatlingburg...........

My son wants to visit Gatlingburg next fall with his wife and 3 young children. He would like to find a medium price 3/4 * cabin that's kind of secluded with good views but not too far from the parkway. It will be his first trip to the area. He lives in N AL Any help is appreciated. If I have not provided enough info let me know. Thanks.

Hi we have used Timber Tops,Alpine Chalet Rentals,Diamond Mountain Rentals,ERA in The Smokies,Auntie Belhams and Jackson mountain homes. All the cabins we rent are close to town with a beautiful mountain/city view. I will put the links down below. How many bedrooms will they need? We always rent 2,3,4 bedroom cabins. ERA has a nice 3 bedroom named 'City Lights' very close to downtown and Timber Tops 'Always a View' is close and Alpine Chalet has one called 'Rippling Water'. Let me know how many bedrooms and price range and I can put the links up to some. I know the area very well as we come to the area 3-4 times a year or more. All of these companies have a very good rating with the BBB and the cabins are always nice and clean. Gatlinburg is a walking town but not too many cabins within walking distance but are less than 1/4 mile of the main strip. Now Pigeon Forge is bigger but more spread out and you pretty much have to drive everywhere. You can park and ride the trolley in the area for I think 50 cents. Make sure you go into the park and go up to Cades Cove and drive through Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. You will see lots of wildlife like Deer,Bears,Elk,etc. Pigeon Forge has alot of things to do for families like go karts, putt putt golf etc. You can also ride the Tram up to Ober Gatlinburg. There is a ice skating rink,Chair Lift,Alpine Slide and kiddie rides up there and the views are beautiful. You can also ride over the mountain and check out Cherokee,NC and catch a show called Unto These Hills. There is a ton of things to do and see all over the area. Make sure you request info to be sent to you so you can plan ahead and get some great coupons. Just let me know how many bedrooms and price range your looking at and I can recommend lots of cabins to check out. I also have a ton of pictures of cabins we have stayed in so you can get an ideal what to expect. Have a wonderful trip and be safe.

aboutthesmokies.com good personal experience, careful commercial touts abound here and there, always pay with CC
never wire money.Gatlinburg is VERY commercial.Townsend
TN is a nice cheaper area over by Cades Cove for a more
rural cheaper experience. www.blueridgeparkway.com a lot
prettier and less tacky than GB/PF area for me.

Happy Hunting,

Gatlingburg Lover.........my son is looking for a 2/3 BR cabin that's above average to medium price range around $200.00 a night. He would like to be close to GB but wants a cabin that's not right on top of others so he can have some privacy. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

These are pretty secluded. Heres the secret when your looking at the pictures and the outside hottub well if there is a fence or something around it then you pretty much know there is a cabin close by and also when looking at the pictures of bedrooms, dens, kitchens etc if the blinds are open you can another cabin then you know they arent very secluded. I think the best one would be City Lights thru ERA. There is only a couple of cabins close by and they are not on any rental program and people own them and its really private around it. City Lights is up behind Ripleys Aquarium. You turn right beside No Way Joses Mexican and past Ripleys and the cabin is less than a fourth of a mile up there and has awesome views of Gatlinburg and the mountains.
Which ones do you like???
I can let you know where about they are and you can pull up Google street view and see whats around them.

Another tip when your looking for a cabin also check with the BBB (link is below). There is alot of great companies out there and also some bad ones too.I always check with them. Last thing you need is headaches while on vacation.

Sunny Lane is a nice cabin with awesome mountain views. It has a nice big deck but not as decorated inside as some of the other ones.
Rushing Water is out on 321(East Parkway) its about 4 miles from Gatlinburg and is secluded and has a nice sized yard for the kids to enjoy.
Grandview is nice but a older cabin. Its up off Ski Mountain Road but very easy to get to. We rented it for Christmas last year.
Rippling Waters is also nice we rented it in October this year. Its right off East Parkway and you can walk to the strip. It has a nice deck and waterfall and the sounds of the stream are very relaxing.
Chalet D Amour is also up off Ski Mountain road and has some great views from it. They recently redid the whole chalet.
Heres some pictures of some of them we took. You may have to look thru the pages to see more pictures. If they are going to be coming in the Fall then I would pick Sunny Lane or Chalet D Amour or Rushing Waters because they will have the best views of the trees and mountains and are pretty much away from other cabins.Hope this helps. We are renting Rushing Waters in April. We like to Trout fish so we think it would be a good choose.
