The hotels with views are located on the Canadian side where the views are much better and the hotels are much closer to the falls. With the current exchange rate, the rates are much more favorable that hotels on the American side. If you pick up a form at the front desk when you check out, all the room taxes will be refunded. Because of the configuration of the falls, the panoramic views from the Canadian side are far superior. There are also many restaurants with excellent food, moderate prices and spectacular views on the Canadian side, along with some superior attractions (such as the Butterfly Conservatory). The Canadian Parks Commission does fabulous landscaping. There's also a "People Mover". You park your car and ride all over. The views along the river are amazing. There are several websites with extensive information. Recommend you do a search and then request all the literature, which is fabulous.

Kittie: we stayed at the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel on the Canadian side. The view was incredible---. On our recommendations, our daughter and husband went to the same hotel, and another couple from work. At night, the falls glow with lights. Fantastic. You can call them directly at 1-800-267-8439. Make sure you ask for a fallsview room. I didn't know about getting the room tax back---thanks for that info. Also, you gotta cruise on the Maid of the Mist--you think you are going directly into the falls itself. Let us know how you liked it.

If you'll e-mail me, I'll forward a list of wonderful websites. If you do venture into Canada, be sure to take the gorgeous drive north on the Niagara Parkway to Niagara-on-the-Lake, a charming lakeside Victorian village with fabulous restaurants and shops. Also, do look in the gift shops for the Screensaver - it's absolutely awesome. Thirty-five incredible shots of the falls. Breathtaking!
