Newark Restaurant Recommendation Needed

Planning to meet friends in Newark and looking for a place to dine with really good food. On site parking a plus. Most online reviews are so mixed and usually from people staying at the airport for a night. What do the locals say?

It's not quite Newark, but Liberty State Park has the Liberty House restaurant, plenty of parking and easy to get to from Newark, it's where I've taken people when I pick them up at Newark. Continental food, so choices for all.

There's a ton of Portuguese restaurants in the "Ironbound" section too, the one I went to (and I'm sorry, can't remember the name) had a parking lot.

Deb - Anywhere in Newark - halfway meeting place to see friends in Jersey. I will check chowhound. I looked at Opentable and trip advisor - neither very helpful.

owlwoman - Is the food good at Liberty House?

I remember reading on this Forum about a street in Newark with a concentration of Portugese restaurants I can't find the thread but perhaps someone else will remember the location.

If Weehawken is an option, the Chart House there is good.
