Jeremy, what a wonderful, wonderful report! You guys remind everyone reading this how glorious love really is. Such a beautiful story to tell your kids and grand kids in the future. I think it's safe to say you have given each one of us as much and maybe more than we have given you. Thanks for making this fodors community a part of this wonderful story. I wish you all the happiness in the world and congratulation in your new journey.

My best wishes for a lifetime of happiness to both of you!

When I read your report and you left the hotel for the park my thought was "what about the picnic basket??" I didn't realize you were having it delivered - how cool is THAT?

Well geez gang, since we were all in on the planning, why don't you guys come back up to NYC and we'll all throw you and engagement party. We could meet up at a restaurant in the city, and have a fun dinner.

Pardon the pun, but food for thought.

Congratulations again! I too, along with every other person who read your report had tears in my eyes. I had to stop and wipe my eyes or else I couldn't continue. I got to the part about going on one knee and that was it for me! Congratulations again!!!

Jeremy -- one of the great parts about this story is that whenever the two of you visit NYC (and you will!) you can go to the Park and relive your engagement. I feel that way whenever we go to the Met museum or Les Halles.

I just sent her the instructions on how to read this thread...knowing her, she will read every last comment. Plus, I told her she can cut and paste my recap to send to all of her friends so we don't both end up writing the exact same thing. You all are awesome...thanks for the kind words!

I love this thread. I was a "lurker" during the planning process but am so glad I came back to find out what happened. Thank you, Jeremy, for putting a bit of magic in our lives.

By the way - re Clooney shaking your hand... Perhaps he's a Fodor's forum fan and knew about your plans?!

So we decided that it wasn't working out and broke it off.

Kidding...week one has been awesome...one week ago we were just walking through the front doors of the W.

I think its time to start planning another weekend getaway!

Just a quick update...everything has been awesome! We are probably going to sell my place this summer and buy a larger place together, so that is very exciting. The engagement took a week to really set in since our vacation was so much fun, but now we are already chomping at the bit to go on another trip!!!

Oh...she loves the ring!

Jeremy

Congrats Jeremy! I'm so glad to hear everything worked out so well. The picnic basket being delivered - VERY cool! I just got engaged too so I can relate to basking in the glow of all that excitement. I hope the rest of your time planning your wedding will be equally as thrilling. I think you should be in charge of the honeymoon plans!

Congrats! This is the first time I've been on in awhile, and just skimmed over everything. So glad you had a wonderful time!

It's probably already been suggested - but I recommend keeping a hard copy of all these posts! It's going to be a great reminder/souvenir of your engagement weekend.

Have fun with the wedding planning!

I've just found this thread and . . .gulp! .... what a great story. Can just see this being made into a film. Perhaps George Clooney could take a cameo part as the picnic deliveryman??

I'm going to NYC for the first time at the beginning of May. Wow ... has my boyfriend got alot to live up to, or what?! ;-)
