Miz, in Penn Station the trains are relatively easy to locate. There are numbered and lettered trains. When you catch a train just make sure you are getting on the right one as almost every line has more than one train running on it.
From Penn Station you would be heading uptown. When you say you're arriving by train, I am assuming you are coming in from either NJ Transit or Amtrak. The E train will be in the same direction as the restrooms by 8th Ave exit.
The weather so far has been beautiful, but can get a little breezy, therefore you might sweat to death in leather right now. Better off with a light sweater or a light jacket at best just in case.
