New Years in Scottsdale

My wife and I will be in Scottsdale for the new years week (Dec. 28-Jan. 2). Can anyone recommend any New Years Eve parties that would be fun to go to with dinner as well? Or even restaurants for a nice dinner? We will be attending the parade on the morning of the 31st. My wife is also 5 months pregnant so please take that into consideration. Thanks for any help or guidance.

Being that your wife is 5 months pregnant, I'm not sure what kind of parties you're looking for (that aren't loud, crowded, and smoky). However, there are many, many nice restaurants in Scottsdale. Are you interested in a certain type of cuisine or atmosphere? Where are you staying? (b/c you might not want to drive too far on New Years Eve).

ddd,

This may help. we are staying at the Mariott Scottsdale Old Town Suites adjacent to old town. We like most all cuisine except for sushi. I have eaten at Medizona which was very good on a business trip to Phoenix back in 2001, as well as Old Town Toritilla Factory. We do not smoke do not enjoy parties that are smokey or too loud. Thank for asking me to clarify.

Since you don't like parties that are loud that sort of defeats the purpose of attending a NYE party. You can try these restaurants that are close to central Scottsdale:

Mary Elaines Phoenecian Resort
T Cooks at Royal Palms Resort
Sanctuary Resort on C'back Mtn
Lons at the Hermosa Inn (very quaint)
Roaring Fork (fab-o food)
Un Baccio
Ocean Cluif you're willing to drive a few miles north to Kierland.) We're headed to this new spot this weekend. Great seafood and I know they're having a special NYE menu.

I think a search on yahoo should pull them all up.

Good luck!

The previous poster gives good suggestions. I would also suggest looking into one of my favorites, Cowboy Ciao. But trust me when I tell you that you need to make reservations NOW (wherever you go!), NYE is less than 2 weeks away and it's tourist season here. It's also in Old Town, but it's just west of Scottsdale Rd. It is a cross between southwestern and Italian, kinda. It's great! And right next door is a cool wine bar called Kazmierz (sp?) which I would assume won't be too crazy/wild for NYE, it's more laid back there. If you like wine, you'd really love this place - the wine "book" is probably 50 pages or more.

Mark,
If you want a good upscale restaurant and first class food to celebrate on NYE, I would highly recommend "Michael's At the Citadel." Restaurant is located up in the Pinnacle Peak area. Michael is a top-noted chef in the valley. His restaurat is highly rated. You can find him on the internet, if interested.
Happy Holidays...Coco
