New Year's Eve In New Orleans???
Hi,
We're 20 something 2 couples who love to go clubbing/drink/have a blast and looking for a fun spot to spend New Year's Eve 2003 - I know New O is hot for Mardi gras and jazz, what about New Year's Eve? Anyone been? Right now we're thinking LA or New O - any input would be great!
Thanks!

I was there in 1994. The Sugar Bowl game was the next day so Bourbon St was packed and a blast although I got stepped on but that's my fault... anyways.
I think you will have a good time there for New Year's.

I too will be in NO on New Years Eve. I've seen a number of restaurants offering packages, as well as the river boat cruises. The NO web site says there are fire works at midnight on the river front, and I want to be in view of that. The City PArk apparantly has a party you can pay to get in, but I wonder about the weather being too cold for outdoors that night. I've been checking the weather lately, and see that is has been down to the 30's at night! I would be interested if any natives can chime in on this thread. I would like more advice, too!

It has been cold lately, and New Years always seems cold to me. Prepare to bundle up but hope for warmer weather!
The fireworks on the river are nice but. I don't like the large rowdy crowds and usually don't go down there. The crowds congregate around Jackson Sq so try to move "down the river" a little bit to watch the fireworks.

Dan, we have reservations at Muriels for New Years Eve at 9:00. Or we've been thinking about going to Snug Harbor Jazz Club where they have Astral Project playing to avoid some of the craziness. I don't know who they are, so I am just going on the reputation of the club. Any thoughts or opinions as to Muriels or Snug Jazz? Thanks.
