New Years Eve...East Coast

Looking for some suggestions for New Years Eve....we've been to Boston and Baltimore past few years and loved it. We live in NYC. We are young 60's couple, 38 year old, and 14 year. Tough I know. Somewhere we can go to a nice dinner, then join in an countdown outside and spend a nice hotel night. We are open to a drive up to 4hrs from NYC.

How about Newport RI?
Great places to eat, nice views around town. They had "First Night" events when I was there a couple years ago, but I don't see any mention of it for this year
