New to Las Vegas!

I have just booked an Anniversary Trip to Vegas in Late Aug. at the Flamingo for 4 nites. This will be our first time in Las Vegas. I like to gamble, she does not. We both will fill our days at the Pool Complex which I have heard is Great. Questions.
1. Where should we eat? I heard the rest.and Buffet was not too good at Flamingo.
2. What room area should we request for the best views?
3. Where can you get the coupons or Perks 2 for 1 etc.?
4. Best shows for 4 nites?
5. Are the free shows in walking distance? Belaggio, Mirage, Pirates?
6. Does the Flamingo do anything for ones Anniversary ie. Champagne in the room?
Anymore useful info. would be appreciated!

#1 For a "special" meal, I would always recommend Picasso at Bellagio. Pricey, but I thought it was worth it. For buffets, again, I like Bellagio and think it's worth the $32 if you like seafood and drink the sparkling wine (FRI/SAT)

#3) Showbiz magazine, hotel front desk, sign up fro slot clubs at the hotel where the show is at that you're interested in.

#4) It's all opinion but, Blue Man Group, Mama Mia, Mystere, O, all highly regarded, all pricey-no discounts. I've seen BMG and Mama Mia - loved them both. I got Clint Homes tix for 1/2 price and thought it was worth it, for 1/2 price. I've seen Penn and Teller in NYC and like them, they are at Rio.

#5) I'd say so. Walking distance for me. Flamingo is in a good spot, the shows you mention are pretty much on the same block - though Vegas blocks are huge.

#6) Mention it to the clerk at checkin and you might get an upgrade.

as very nicely if it would be possible to have a high room lookin over the strip because it`s your anni and that would make it so special...the pool is great..I liked the buffets and the Lindy rest...thought Conrads was pricey..Barbary Coast has a couple good rests.--and there is Paris...get on their e-mail web list and join slot club...they have bookles w/coupons all over..yes free shows are walkable..Flamingolasvegas.com is their addy..also the Big Buffet at Bally`s is good along w/the Stage deli esp. for bkfst...O`Sheas(part of Flamingo n the Emperial Palace side has aBurger King,Subwat,etc)..see or Mystere..GREAT----don`t know of any special thing they would do for free unless your a high roller...good luck and congats!....try lvol.comand cheapovegas.com for some more info...

Just returned from Vegas where I stayed 3 nights at the Flamingo. Definitely ask for or pay to upgrade..My room was a 55/night discount rate I got on their website, included 2 for one at breakfast buffet, drinks, 2 for one at spa, but the room that I got was pretty standard, not at all fancy. Older beds, but it was clean. Essentially a standard hotel room. When you check in you should be given a discount coupon book called Park Place Connection and it has lots of discount coupons not only for Flamingo, but for their sister properties, Bally's, Paris, Ceasar's. I did not eat at any Flamingo restaurant except the deli for a quick sandwich one day. They had yummy looking cheesecake there. Ate at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris and Cheesecake Factory at Ceaser's. Not really anniversary restaurants in my opinion.
Best shows in my opinion: O, Mystere, Mama Mia. Celine has opened at Ceasar's so that may be a good one to consider.
Have a nice anniversary.......

We had a room on the 22nd floor which faced the Bellagio fountains and it was great. We had a wonderful view of the fountain shows anytime we wanted. The windows are floor to ceiling and really a pretty view. Enjoy!!
