New Orleans - When does the Mardi Gras crowd leave?

We're thinking of a long weekend in New Orleans beginning on Valentines Day, just 2 days after Fat Tuesday this year.

Do the crowds tend to clear out the next day or does it seem that people stay for the entire week? Does the Quarter shut-down those next few days to allow people to detox?

Thanks for the information.

I'm arriving in NO that same day for a four day weekend along with a friend who spent many months there over a two year perioed when she did a consulting job. She made our accomodation arrangments and assured me that the crowds are gone. We reserved a few weeks ago and no problem getting a room. I suspect that many of the people who oneed the most detoxing are from out of town and already on there way home on Wednesday.

I'm from there & yes most of the revelers head out Wed morning w/ hangovers intact. And no, the Quarter nevers shuts down, it may still be a little dirty but hey - that's part of its charm! Have a great time in the Big EZ!

Owen and Molly,
Thank for the information! If you're in town, look for us at Laffites Blacksmith Shop - Johnny is the best! As we live in New Jersey, we'll be the one's requesting something from Sinatra.

Thanks again!

Hi Ryan- We spent a few days there a couple of years ago right after Mardi Gras- It was wonderful- More laid back as if the city was letting out a big sigh!! Still plenty of partying too...
