New Orleans Restaurants

Has anyone done the jazz brunch at the Court of Two Sisters in New Orleans? Looking for an opinion on which would be better there...the jazz brunch, or dinner in the courtyard. Also, does anyone know if it's worth the big $$ to eat at any of Emeril's restaurants?

There are much better places to have brunch than Court of Two Sisters. Palace Cafe, Mr. B's Bistro, and of course, Commander's Palace - just to name three I'd recommend. If you want to eat at one of Emeril's places, I'd suggest NOLA - although it has gotten mixed reviews lately. Again - I'd recommend any of the three Brennan's places I mentioned before I'd recommend anything of Emeril's. Redfish Grill is also another Brennan place to think about, but I'm not sure if they have a brunch, which is why I didn't list it with the other places. If you want a good dinner if courtyard, my suggestion would the Le Bistro at Maison de Ville.

Though I've seen a handful of positive reviews on the Court of Two Sisters in the past year, I sure wouldn't advise you to eat there unless you've got a free meal. For years, it's been considered one of the worst - if the the worst - tourist traps in New Orleans. If I were you I'd go to their courtyard for a cocktail, but for a meal I'd take one of Meg's suggestions, all of which are wonderful.

We had brunch at Brennan's and really enjoyed it. Don't remember a jazz brunch though, but maybe I had one too many mimosas!

Dear Susie: SKIP anything at the Court of Two Sisters; the Jazz Brunch everyone loves is at Commander's in the Garden District. You didn't say when you plan to go to New Orleans but eating outside between now and 1 October could be un- comfortable because of heat and mosquito problems. Have fun. Joan

We tried Nola (Emeril's restuarant in the French Quarter) and liked it very much. Nice selection, well-prepared and very nice atmosphere.

Court of Two Sisters just reminds me of a Shoney's breakfast buffet at upscale prices. There's just a lot better to be had in this city. A lot of tourists really enjoy, though - so I'm not sure what the draw is.

Susie,

We were recently in New Orleans and thanks to Fodors posters suggestions (many are 'locals') my husband and I had terrific dining experiences. For jazz brunch, we dined at Mr. B's Bistro and enjoyed the meal and atmosphere.

If you have AOL, the New Orleans travel board is pretty good. I used to post quite a bit on it and the information seems to be pretty accurate as many locals participate.

maybe i watch too much food TV, but Emeril's was one of the best restaurants i've had the pleasure to eat at. i also had dinner at the court of the two sisters, but while good it didn't stack up to Emeril's.
