New Orleans in August
What are some things to be particularly careful of when traveling in "the Cresent City" in the hot month of August??? My husband and I were there last in March and it was lovely but this yr we have no choice but to go in the heart of summer. Any help would be greatly appeciated...thanks in advance.

Let me be more specific then. Is there a lot of mosquitos, or black flies or is it too hot for them too? Besides being hot is the weather anything to speak of? How hot is "hot"? Do the nights cool off at all? Do we need to bother w/ any type of garmet other than shorts etc.? At the fine dining establishments, what is the protacol for these hotter days as far as dress code?

August is hot. Very hot. Light cotton clothing is best. Dress codes still apply at restaurants although you can get by with nice shorts for lunch at some of the mid-range places that normally would frown upon shorts. It does cool down at night but only to about 75 degrees. Expect highs in the mid 90s with 90% humidity.
Mosquitos are no worse than anywhere else, especially since we're in a drought. And we don't have black flies, at least not in any numbers.
