New Orleans @ Halloween
A group of six of us are going to be visiting New Orleans for the first time at the end of October. We've heard that Halloween in NO can be pretty festive. Any suggestions on things to do or places to go in keeping with the holiday? Should we consider bringing costumes and/or masks?

We were there a few years ago on Halloween. They have a small parade down Bourbon Street. We did the Haunted Walking Tour on Halloween before the parade and it was great. I really recommend it. I think the tour meets in front of the Vodoo Store. Have fun and bring shorts, it was still quiet humid.

I go with a group of friends every year for Halloween. It's a blast! There will definitely be lots of costumes roaming the quarter, both the weekend before and on the day of. The weather is great. Usually warm in the day, warm to coolish at night. There are several parties that are sell tickets to the public, but we have usually just enjoyed the party on the streets. Many of the bars are decorated and have Halloween costume contests, etc. No matter what, you will have an awesome time. If you have any specific questions, feel free...

My husband & I have "done" Halloween 3 times. We have not dressed ~ we felt left out, dressed in costume ~ hard to take pictures of others when your the one having your picture taken & then I had an inspiration!
I went dressed as a tv reporter & my husband as a cameraman. It is amazing how many people thought we were real!! We had an older camcorder with a light on it & my husband made a sign that said WSEX Channel 69 on it & put it on the side of the camera. I was able (after a few drinks) to "interview" people in an "on the street" type of format. It was hysterical!!! The later it got the better the "interviews" got.
Go & have fun. Just remember to pay attention to your surrondings while your out & about late at night.
