New Orleans-First Time!
I'm headed down to New Orleans with a friend of mine for April 13 and returning late April 17th, so we have roughly 3 full days. It's our first time there, and I was wondering what anyone would recommend taking in in 3-4 days for someone who hasn't been before, or how you all liked it.
Thanks! Christine

Try some of the tours offered, a half-day swamp tour (seen one critter, seen them all, so don't spend a whole day there), a city tour that includes a stop at a cemetery (that way you can get two-in-one), a trip on a steamboat, and BOURBON STREET!!! We're returning for the 4th time in as many years this fall and we can hardly wait. It just keeps calling you back! Have a great time!

Hi Christine; Just got back from NO on April ist. We took Louisanna Swamp Tours (1/2 day tour). Saw lots and enjoyed it. Be sure to go to Jackson Square..lots of Street Musicians and Street vendors. Cafe Du Monde is a must for cafe au lait and benigets!! We found it much easier to get a table early afternoon rather than morning. It is very close to the lots of shopping and Flea Market. We went to Commanders Palace for dinner and it was just unbelievable. The bread pudding souffle is to die for!!!!!! Take the Cemetery Tour is you are interested in History and Forklore. The guides are very informative. Grayline has lots of great tours and priced quite reasonable. The weather was low to mide 80's when we were there. ENJOY!

Hi, Christine. You will be here for French Quarter Festival with bands and food galore. Check out the activities at Jackson Square (where most of the food booths are) and Waldenberg Riverfront Park (just in front of Jackson Square). If you want to take a break from all the activity, check out the Aquarium of the Americas which is next to Waldenberg Park. There are many different walking tours - cemetaries, voodoo, garden district, etc. Your hotel should be able to provide information on the operators. Take a ride on the streetcar up St. Charles Avenue to check out the old homes. If shopping interests you, check out Magazine Street uptown which offers 6 miles of shops. Cafe au lait and beignets is a must - go after dinner for some interesting people watching. Cafe du Monde is open 24 hours a day, so there's always time to fit that in your schedule. I live in the Quarter, so please let me know if you need any additional information. Have a great trip!

Definitely hit some of the cemetaries- all above-ground tombs, and very interesting- there are quite a few tours offered, although we walked through on our own and still were able to get alot out of it. St. Louis Park Cemetary(?)- I'm not sure if it's #1,2 or 3- is not too far from the Quarter, and is VERY cool- features Marie Laveau's tomb. I LOVE New Orleans- have a great time!
