New Orlean Restaurants

Recommendations....I am spending my 30th B-Day in NO end of this month. Suggestions for a spectacular B-day dinner? Something quaint, garden district area maybe?

My fiance and I just returned from NO. We loved the Commanders Palace. It was the BEST restaurant. Reservations are needed though. Also, I would recommend Dickie Brennans. We liked that place too.

Court of Two Sisters has a brunch that is unequalled. They also serve dinner, and I would imagine it is wonderful. You sit in a vine canopied courtyard that has white lights entertwinned. Usually a jazz band plays.

Oh wow, Sarah, I wouldn't be surprised if you had lots of comments on your recommendation of the Court of Two Sisters. You were really lucky to have had such a good experience there, as it's fairly well-known as a tourist trap and most people think the courtyard is great but the food is awful. Commander's Palace is spectacular, though, and there are lots of other wonderful restaurants in NO, too.

Court of Two Sisters is pretty much universally-regarded by locals (and many visitors, I assume) as a tourist trap of the highest degree. As Susan said, icky food but okay atmosphere and music.

Commander's is indeed a wonderful place but I'd suggest Bayona and Peristyle. However, if you don't already reservations at a top restaurant you can pretty much forget about it at this point. Be flexible about times and you'll increase your chances! Happy birthday, Andrea.

I really liked NOLA's and would recommend it above K-Paul's
