New Hampshire resort.
Saw this episode on New Hampshire, way in the mountains.

One of the destinations they featured was the Omni Washington Resort, a grand dame hotel with stunning views of the mountains nearby from a large veranda.
It’s rated a 4-star hotel, well regarded for service but the rooms don’t look special. $199 a night now but the least expensive rooms are over $400 in August!
They must draw a lot of New Yorkers and residents of big New England cities?
Always wondered how these old hotels sustain their business. For $400 a night, you can find some nice accommodations around the world, in equally or even more beautiful settings.
These old hotels in the American wilderness make me think of the hotel from The Shining. They had presidential suites but at some point, they went out of business by the 70s and 80s.

I keep meaning to try a short visit for drinks on the porch. More than several years ago we stayed at the Mountain View Grand which is further north. The room was basic. The porch over crowded. And since we don't golf, it wasn't our kind of place. The Omni Washington porch looks a lot bigger. You might find better accommodations for the price elsewhere but as you pointed out, there's lots of people from the Boston and NYC areas who like to weekend in NH. I93 north on Friday afternoons is congested almost year round. Wonder what time of year they filmed on Lake Winnipesaukee because from late spring to mid-fall the lake is very busy. Lots of boating.

Loved Lake Winnipesaukee! Grew up going there every summer for two weeks. We stayed in cabins on the lake. All the same families went every year. We drove up from NJ. It was the only two weeks a year my dad took off from work.
