Hi:
You may want to check out my recent series on New England Romantic Getaways:
http://lovetripper.com/issues/issue-...nd-series.html
Great places I would definitely recommend are:
The White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine:
Blueberry Hill Inn in Goshen Vermont
The Woodstock Inn in Woodstock Vermont
I have articles on all of the above.
If you wish to travel to Cape Cod check out my articles on the
Captains Inn and Crowne Pointe.

Yes 10 days would not be a whole lot to see both Boston and NYC together.
I did see anyone mention this , but last night on PBs they had a thing about where you could stay at lighthouses that are converted into B&B type of places. I think that would be a neat and romantic trip out to the cape as they mentione one or so there.

The Lighthouse Inn in New London, CT is a special place for honeymooners - beautiful views of Long Island Sound - beach to walk on within 2 minutes.
Mystic is close by (20 min.) and there is ample to see.
Samoset Resort in Maine is another must see.

For a different kind of place, I'd suggest the Keeper's House on Isle au Haut just off Stonington,Maine. They have a website. We were there one year in late August and loved it. It can be rather rustic but the experience overall is a great one.
