need suggestions for day trips from sedona to ?

We are flying into Phoenix 12/6 and arrive at 12 noon. Will pick up a car and will be staying that night and for the next 5 nights at the Hilton Sedona on Hilton points. We are definitely interested in the Pink Jeep tours. We would also like to hire a helicopter for a day to fly through the grand canyon and a sunset horseback ride. We enjoy hiking and shopping art galleries also. Every activity we plan has to end with us spending the night at the Hilton Sedona of course.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for all of your help!

You might take a day trip to Prescott and Jerome, both great destinations and not a long drive from Sedona

I'd drive through Oak Creek Canyon and spend a day in and around Flagstaff. Visit the Museum of Northern Arizona and Wupatki Natl. Monument.

I agree with the suggestions in both response postings. There are two routes through Jerome and Prescott. One is extremely mountainous, although scenic-- the other more flat and an easier drive. I would add to the Oak Creek Canyon suggestion and Wupatki National Monuments, Sunset Crater National Monument, which contains the remains of
extensive lava flows. The ride from Sedona to Oak Creek and beyond is very scenic and a "must do".

You could also do the Verde Valley Railroad. It's a relaxing train ride thru beautiful scenery. You would drive to Cottonwood to get the train.

I just got back from Sedona - in Scottsdale right now and it was amazing. Definitely do the airport vortex, horseback riding (adventure trails), cathedral rock (beautiful), tlaquepaque market, etc.

I spent 8 days in Sedona and was not bored once. Also, the people there are incredibly friendly - not that forced smile you get in some places. I also went to the Grand Canyon - funny thing is I was more impressed by Sedona then the Grand Canyon.

There is a lot of great hiking in and around Sedona. It would be worth your while to buy a week's pass to the National Forest. This is required to park at any of the trail heads and along the highways through out the forest. The hotel probably would have the pass and a map of all the trails. We love just picking a trail and exploring. I would also recommend going to Slide Rock State Park and hiking by the creek. We did that this weekend and it great to be there without the usual crowds of the summer.
You may also want to check out the Fantasy Light show at Los Abigodos.

I will also suggest Jerome, it is a neat, quirky town well worth the trip.

thank you all for your suggestion's. They all sound great. Does anyone have a name of a place for sunset horseback rides? I heard these were nice and I haven't ridden in a few years and miss it immensely. Thanks!
