Need suggestions for 1st anniversary trip within 4 hour drive from LA

My husband and I want to get away for a weekend in June to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We would love to stay within a four hour drive of LA. We are looking for a place that is romantic, but at the same time has activities to do. Any suggestions??

We're open on activities. We like to hike, visit wineries, walk around cute towns, visit museums...We're not the type to just sit around by a pool all day.

A trip up Hwy 1 through Big Sur and on into Carmel, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach is a very romantic trip with great restaurants and great walks along coastlines of spectacular beauty. Also, Carmel-by-the-Sea tops the list of "cute towns." The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a fascinating "museum" of live sea creatures. You will find interesting wineries in Carmel Valley.

Happy Anniversary!

Catalina, Laguna, or La Jolla come to mind.

Or Cambria, with a visit to San Simeon.

Thank you for all the great suggestions! I think we are going to check out Morro Bay. I read reviews of Anderson Inn and it looks wonderful! Any suggestions of things to do in Morro Bay? Or vineyards in Paso Robles to be sure to check out?
