Need romantic night away from Naples, FL.

We will be spending two weeks with my mother-in-law in Naples over Christmas and New Years. By the end, I would love to ditch the kids with the mother-in-law and spend a nice romantic night and days with my husband somewhere cool. I thought about the Key West Express, but boats make me barf. We don't need anything on the beach because my mil's place is on the beach. We've done Miami Beach in the past, which is cool, but a bit far from there.

Are there any nice b&b's near Naples? Downtown Naples is too close. I'm thinking maybe an hour away. Somewhere with a nice restaurant and a place to walk around. I'm thinking the night of January 2.

You could look at www.florida-inns.com, www.bedandbreakfast.com and www.bbonline for ideas!

I agree with Patrick about the Gasparilla Inn.

Okay, looked at Gasparilla Inn and yikes! $365 a night. I guess I want cheaper romance.

Boca Grande wants me to fill out a form for a quote. Anyone know their prices off the top of their heads? I guess it is not a good time of year for cheap romance.

Now I'm confused. You gave the price for Gasparilla Inn, then asked about the price for Boca Grande. Are you looking at another place on Boca Grande?

There's also the small Bokeelia Inn on Pine Island.

Or Cabbage Key -- you have to get there by boat -- very casual and rustic.

The old Clewiston Inn near Okeechopee used to be a great place but I don't know what it's like these days.

Doh, I read your reply as "Gasparilla Inn OR Boca Grande". And yes, there is apparently a place called Boca Grande on Boca Grande:

http://www.bocagrandeclub.com/

I will look at the other places you mentioned next week. I'm just home from northern Michigan for the night and then right back again tomorrow! 'Tis the time of year to enjoy Michigan's splendor.

Thanks so much for your help. It is very appreciated!

kelliebellie, why didn't I think of that? I used to have a friend here who owned a condo at the Boca Grande Club, but forgot all about it. It's not an inn, but a fairly large complex of individually owned apartments (and maybe time share as well). Did you click the 2009 rates? It shows a one bedroom Marina view for $200 and a one bedroom gulf view for something more than than (sorry, I deleted).
Id they'd let you just stay one night in an individually owned condo apartment though might be surprising.

I love Boca Grande if you can swing it. You are there at Prime Time, unfortunately...most everything that's worth its salt is high. I was going to suggest Hyatt Coconut Point as an alternative, but that'd probably be 3 something as well that time of year.

I was looking quickly and didn't see the rate link. $200 is much more in my price range. I will check it out now that I know that others recommend it. Thanks!
