Need rental car for Yellowstone & Glacier NP’s and none available

Hello!

I am taking a trip at the beginning of September to Yellowstone & Glacier, and I tried to book a rental car today and there are very few choices and some results said none available!

I want an SUV and will be flying into BZN and flying out of FCA (Kalispell).

Wondering if I’ll have better luck taking an Uber to a nearby town location vs trying to rent at the airport.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Kathy

You don't need an SUV--a passenger car is fine. Start with that and see if you can get something.

I actually DO need an SUV given the number of people coming plus luggage.

How many people? SUV's aren't needed as far as roads are concerned, perhaps you just need a large vehicle. You'll have to be flexible at this late date. Good luck, you might be looking for a needle in a haystack. Many people plan their trips to Yellowstone a year in advance. Have you booked accommodation?

If you're going to both Yellowstone and Glacier, I'm a little surprised you're not flying into Jackson, WY. Is that a possibility?

I did a dummy search on Enterprise for both Sept. 1-8 and Sept. 8-15, and there were minivans and SUVs available at Jackson. I'm not pushing Enterprise. I just find their website easy for quick searches.

I wonder if the one-way rental is also an issue. For those you may need to CALL as opposed to just doing online research.

Over the holiday weekend? Yeah, you've waited too long to book its not surprising that they are sold out.

You might find something for Bozeman to Bozeman for a couple of days, then another car after the holiday weekend for BZN to Kalispell. Or check if you can get Bozeman to Missoula and then switch up at Missoula.(might have to use two different companies).
