My friends son was leaving for Europe and he was waiting for his passport; it was 6 days before his departure and he still didn't have it. I had read here on Fodors about contacting your congressman and he did. He did have to travel to Seattle but his congressman made his appointment and he got his passport the next day in Seattle. So I would try your congress person you just never know.
